18 h 47 m, 1 nov 1864 año - Sherman's March to Sea
Descripción:
The March to Sea occurred toward the end of the Civil War when General William T. Sherman captured Atlanta on September 2nd, which was a very big success because Atlanta was a railroad hub and industrial center for the Confederacy. After the Union captured Atlanta, the confederate troops retreated back to Alabama and Tennessee destroying Union supply lines on the way. Sherman and his troops marched to Savannah in 2 line 30 miles apart. By the time the Union soldiers arrived in Savannah the city was abandoned and the Confederates had left. This march was about the end of the Civil War with a very good chance of the Union winning but it wasn’t until the Surrender of Appomattox the Civil War ended.
