Descripción:
Confederate troops traveled through the valley and launched a series of attacks on the Union troops. In five battles they were able pin down a lot of Union forces, providing a threat to Washington D.C. and keeping Union troops away from Richmond. With a Confederacy victory this conflict threatened the North's control of Washington D.C. with the Confederates creeping up and also led to the battle of Antietam late that year.
