28 mayo 1830 año - Indian Removal Act

Descripción:

Before white settlers began destroying the Native Americans homes and land about 125,000 Native Americans lived on the lands now known as Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, etc. However by the end of the decade only a few hundred natives remained and per request of white settlers wanting to grow cotton, President Jackson signed a law, allowing the federal government to force Native Americans from their homes. After being forced to leave their homes, they had to walk thousands of miles to designated “Indian territory”. This journey was often deadly and very difficult is known as the Trail of Tears.
