Descripción:
In 1904 the US commenced the building of the canal on a stretch of 50 mile land in Panama after the French construction team failed. The chief engineer, John Stevens designed the canal from sea level to canal lock and the creation of the canal helped eliminate disease carrying mosquitoes. Throughout the process Stevens successor, Lt. Col George Washington Goethals supervised the building of dams and locks and the evacuation of a mountain range. Then in 1914 the famous canal opened and changed from US to Panama.
