8 abr 2021 año - Monkey plays videogame through nerualink
Descripción:
On April 4th, 2021, a monkey played a video game through neuralink, and the video was disclosed by neuralink. The monkey was taught to play a game with a joystick at first. The monkey was rewarded with a sip of fruit smoothie each time he made correct moves. Neuralink device in the monkey’s brain recorded the brain activity during the game. Neuralink decoded the brain signals and figured out which neurons were firing when the monkey moved the joystick. Then they disconnected the joystick and left the monkey to play the game only by its thoughts.
In their blog, they wrote, “Our first goal is to give people with paralysis their digital freedom back, to communicate more easily via text, follow their curiosity on the web, to express their creativity through photography and art, and, yes, to play video games.” They also said, “for people with paralysis the Link could also potentially be used to restore physical mobility” by stimulating certain nerves associated with specific muscles. But according to their blog, the process used on the monkey could not be directly applied to treat those. They remarked that it should be calibrated with the human brain. After the calibration, people will also be able to control their computers and mobile devices with ease and speed through neuralink.
