En 1965, il y avait une grande advancement pour la culture homosexuelle. Le premier film avec un thème homosexuel était montré au Commonwealth Film Festival. Le film était nommé « Winter Kept Us Warm », par David Secter. De plus, « The Forms of Life », écrit par Edward A. Lacey, est publié. C'est le premier recueil de poésie homosexuelle publié au Canada.
