12 mayo 1931 año - Strikes and Street Battles
Descripción:
Workers began to hold strikes in retaliation of the Republican right wing party which was primarily made up of the middle class. These strikes would turn violent leading to the deaths of ten workers after a fight against monarchist groups. These conflicts would extend into the summer where telephone workers organized a walkout in Seville leading to the government declaring martial law. The violent street battles that followed led to the death of forty workers and two hundred being injured. These events marked the violence that came from the beginning of the Second Republic. These violent battles would extend throughout the Second Republic with conflicts between the right and the left.
