1 ene 1821 año - Haworth Parsonage

Descripción:

The Brontes came to Haworth on the edge of Haworth Moor in West Yorkshire in 1821. The village located in the Pennine Hills that separate Yorkshire was industrial and polluted. The death rate was high with most only living to age 24. Though it was industrial, villagers farmed a little and engaged in handicrafts and religious worship "flourished" in a harmonious way between dissenters and Anglicans.

In Charlotte Bronte's novel, "Jane Eyre," marriage plays out in Anglican parishes such as Haworth Parsonage. Here, the clergyman would have prepared the marriage readings and perhaps counseled couples intending to enter into matrimony. Men like St. John Rivers would have been expected to perform marriages for their parish.
