17 h 28 m, 9 agos 1848 año - Establishment of the Free-Soil Party
Descripción:
Developed from a political rivalry in New York. The Democratic Party there consisted of contending views: the Barnburners, who strongly opposed slavery, and the Hunkers, who were neutral or supportive of slavery. This was significant to sectionalism because it shows how slavery was separating the country by causing the formation of different political parties.
