Descripción:
*During Jackson’s presidency*, enlightened ministers continued their emotional style of preaching. The Second Great Awakening brought new ideas of transcendentalism and women’s suffrage and abolition. This awakening was characterized by revivals of preaching. The temperance movement also came from this awakening. The awakening highlighted emotional and spiritual equality. The awakening had involved many great revolutionists: Thoreau, Emerson, Frederick Douglass. This movement was influential to the nation because many women and freed slaves were speaking at revivals and talking about abolition and equal rights. Key Concept 4.1.III
