This was a mass killing of 150-300 Native Americans by U.S. soldiers in the area of Wounded Knee Creek in southwestern South Dakota. The United States were nervous and assumed a possible uprising that the Indians were planning when viewing their Ghost Dance Thinking it was a war dance.
