Dr. Willem Dicke, a Dutch pediatrician discovered that kids had less celiac disease during the war when they had limited wheat.In 1941 Dicke wrote a paper about his study on the relationship between celiac disease and wheat free diet. The doctors finally found out that gluten can cause some people to have diarrhea, stomach pain and celiac disease symptoms.
