After the assassination of William McKinley Theodore Rosevelt was unexpectedly elected as the 26th president of the United States. During his presidency he made great strides to beak up the industrial comnbonations which were created by the Sherman anti trust act. Also he was a huge conservationist. He was the one that developed the idea of nation parks that would remain preserved. Also his great negotiation skills ended the Russo-Japanese War. He then set out to start construction on the Panama Canal.
