Nullifacation crisis (19 maio 1828 ano – 15 mar 1833 ano)
Descrição:
A high protective tariff (or tax) was signed into law by the US government. South Carolinian's - specifically John C Calhoun strongly disagreed with the high tariffs and felt that they targeted the South unfairly. South Carolina nullified the federal law, calling it unconstitutional until a "force bill" was threatened which would bring the national army into the state to make sure the law was followed . A compromise took place. SC would pay the tax if the US government would not send troops if SC agreed to pay this lowered tax.
