Most of the colonist who arrive in the New World were men who were rich (above class ), blacksmiths, farmers, and other men who work jobs like wood making (maybe merchants). They are not experienced in exploring. They didn't know how to harvest in a land were the soil is different. Some of them maybe hunted and other still were in search of gold. Harsh winters and diseases spread which made it worst for the men to live in the New World. John Smith arrived or took leadership In Jamestown by 1608. John Smith lead the colonists to 2 Chesapeake Bay voyages to find passages to Asia and minerals. However in those two missions it failed to find a passage or minerals. He told the colonist to focus on harvesting instead of searching for gold. John smith has sent letters to the Queen, in those letters he stated that he was capture by some Native Americans and was hold Captivity in where the chief Powhatan lived. When Smith was about to get sacrificed, a young lady who he called princess, named Pocahontas saved him by putting her arms around his head and her father to not kill him. However, many believe that this is a legend or a myth that Pocahontas safe Smiths life. However, in Native American speeches and John Smiths speech told them on how the Chief Powhaton and Smith relatioship might have crumpled later or before both sayiing on why they should fight when the Natives provided colonits with food.
