There were a lot of riots about labor, in the midst of the great deprssion.
With world conflicts brewing, and a second world war imminent, the american public needed a distraction, and a rolemodel.
Following in the shadows of superman, batman also was created for the same reason, presumably.
The war had officially broken out, and with only imagination holding comic creators back, more and more diverse superheros sprouted.
A hero directly relatated to the conflict over seas, captain america was an eyeopening real hero.
Vietnam was a very big inspiration to these heroes - the people were no stranger to war, and they needed their viced.
Spiderman was probably the most relatable hero - being just a kid who was granted powers in manhattan. I imagine this helped the imagination of the readers.
Not very many world conflicts can be tied to these heroes - but they are still awesome.
