The supreme court's decision in this case was the first part to the necessary and proper clause, and favored the federal government/ It set a strong precedent and validated the existence of implied powers, or things that the federal government has to be able to do in order to uphold their powers. This furthered the power of the federal government, as the ruling specifically stated the actions of the federal government were above those of the state.
