The UN security council decided to follow Truman's lead and help the Republic of Korea fight North Korea. The Russians were boycotting the UN due to the UN refusal to seat Mao's People Republic of China. This was how the UN got a unanimos vote because Russia was not able to boycott there action to help South Korea.
