objectives of the Phobos missions were to:
conduct studies of the interplanetary environment;
perform observations of the Sun;
characterize the plasma environment in the Martian vicinity;
conduct surface and atmospheric studies of Mars; and,
study the surface composition of the Martian satellite Phobos.
