Joseph Rudolph "Philly Joe" Jones, was a Philadelphia born drummer who was born on July 15, 1923. Jones started out his career in New York, where he got the job as being the house drummer at "Cafe Society" in 1947. He would start to record and travel with the Miles Davis Quintet from 1955 to 1958. He would would love to Europe shortly after that, but returned to Philadelphia in the 1970's.
