Plotted by John de la Pole, Earl of Lincoln. Lambert Simnel was made to impersonate Edward, Earl of Warwick as he was the leading Yorkist claimant to the throne. Margaret of Burgundy who had supported many Yorkist plots, acknowledged Simnel as her nephew and raised 2000 mercenaries for him. They set sail for Ireland in 1487 and then Simnel was crowned as King, supported by the Earl of Kildare. Simnel marched with 8000 men to meet Henry at East Stoke, where they were met with 12000 men. Lincoln killed in fighting, Lovell died soon after. Simnel was captured and worked as a turnspit in the royal kitchens.
