12 abr 1864 ano - Fort Pillow Massacre
Descrição:
April 12, 1864: The Fort Pillow Massacre was one of the most controversial events in the Civil War. Over 300 African-American soldiers were killed in the battle. Because the Union surrendered, the should've been taken as prisoners of war, but they weren't, they were killed instead. The Fort Pillow Massacre was a necessary battle because when the Confederacy refused to treat African-American troops as traditional prisoners of war, it outraged the North so much that they began to refuse to participate in prisoner exchange.
