Despite living through the entire battle, Marcy soon realizes that the ceremony cannot be completed without four spirits, and Brenna only has three. Terrified for Zack's life, she tears into battle to fight alongside him. In doing so, an arrow pierces through her thigh. Zack drags her against the wall and ties a tourniquet, hoping to call for help, but they are outside of Aerilon, and the chances of her survival are already slim with her femoral artery cut. Knowing that her death must be written in the stars, Marcy convinces Zack to take off the tourniquet. Then, with a few more whispered words of kindness, she pulls the arrow from her leg, allowing herself to bleed out. According to Zack in later reports, she dies in a minute and a half. Death from massive blood loss.
