19 abr 1775 ano - American Revolution
Descrição:
The ideas of liberal thinkers inspired the American colonists to declare independence from the British crown and establish a republican form of government where governing authority was invested in the hands of its citizens and not a ruling monarch. At the time, as one of Great Britain's colonies, settlers in what became known as the United States of America were taxed by Britain, and they paid tariffs on imported goods. They did not want to be ruled from a government from abroad and declared themselves independent from Great Britain with the "Declaration of Independence." The Declaration believed all men are created equal and are endowed with unalienable Rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This correlates with the classical liberalism principles of individual rights and freedoms and the protection of civil liberties.
