31 dez 1785 ano - The Leeds Woolen Workers’ Petition

Descrição:

The Leeds Woolen Workers’ Petition was a collaboratively written statement by workers in Leeds, England in 1786. They are arguing that machines have taken the place of skilled-workers which have left many people without jobs or lower pay. Towards the end of the petition, the workers are also concerned about the future of their children being brought up in idleness. They mentioned that illiterate men bring them children up to industry and keep them employed to keep them out of the streets and in trouble. This was a major concern of the era. For people began to rely on machines over people because it was more time efficient and cheaper, but the welfare of common people suffered and then raised concerns for the future.
