Description: Crisis broke out between U.S. & Great Britain. 2 Confederates boarded British steamer ship The Trent  in Cuba to try and get British Brittish help in the civil war. The 2 confederates were arrested and returned to U.S..
Immediate Impact: Britain viewed it as an act of war, mobilized forced in Canada and threatened war
Long-term impact: Mission was a failure as they were unable to convince European leaders to support the confederates in the Civil War
