28 dez 1763 ano - The Sugar Act

Descrição:

The Sugar Act was passed on April 5th, 1764 as a way to raise money for Britain after the French and Indian war. The colonists were outraged and hated the act, and soon they began protesting it, smuggling, bribing officials, and other things that nullified the law. Major figures such as Samuel Adams and James Otis were against it and many merchants boycotted it by not purchasing British imports. Soon the Sugar Act was repealed in 1766. This act helped lead to the revolution because colonists saw that they could manipulate Britain and control what they wanted to be taxed on.
