On Friday 3/30/18 I had to talk to the chief of engineers where he questioned me on my knowledge of the SCADA system. Many of his questions made no sense as he has no understanding of the system. One of the questions he asked me was how are you managing your 4 to 20 V. I told him that a 4-20 V instrumentation signal did not exist and that he must be referring to 4-20 mA. I am not sure if he felt embarrassed, but he just kind of raised his hands up and shrugged. It seems like the Chief of Engineers has no understanding of electrical systems, but likes to pick up buzz words that he hears in order to trip me up. The previous SCADA engineer (Brandon Hilliard) told me that I would become a better engineer than him, which meant a lot to me and was very optimistic that things would get better. It’s interesting how the old SCADA engineer thinks I will become a better engineer than him and my management accuses me of not being a self-starter.
