The Thirty Years’ War was a religious and territorial conflict that lasted for 30 years. Most of the battles were located in Europe. The official start of the war was when Ferdinand II tried to force everyone under his rule to convert to Roman Catholicism. Protestant nobles stood up in disagreement, but Ferdinand ended up winning. Many other conflicts arose in Europe after Ferdinand’s rivalry which caused the war to continue for years. The Thirty Years’ war ended with The Treaty of Westphalia in 1648. The map of Europe had been changed forever during this war.
