Bolsheviks storm
the Winter Palace (oct 25, 1917 – oct 26, 1917)
Description:
Over the next 2 days (25-26 October), Bolshevik soldiers climbed through the windows of the Winter Palace and arrested the remaining members of the Prov Gov.
Many from other revolutionary parties complained that the Bolsheviks had acted without their agreement. This risked setting off a civil war and ruining Russia and socialism.
Many left the Petrograd Soviet in protest, leaving the Bolsheviks and left-wing members of the Social Revolutionary Party in control of the soviet.
Trotsky said that those who had left belonged in the ‘dustbin of history’.
