The First Continental Congress (sep 5, 1774 – sep 5, 1774)

Description:

The first meeting of delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies (Georgia couldn’t attend). They met in Philadelphia on September 5, 1774. Their main goal was to decide what to do about being subjected to the Intolerable Acts. They pledged their loyalty to Britain, but refused to to be taxed by them. This document was called the Declaration of Rights. They came up with consequences (trade) if the Intolerable Acts were not repealed. These consequences were outlined in the Articles of Association. After these two documents were established, the First Continental Congress disbanded on October 26, 1774.
