Commerce Clause (may 14, 1787 – sep 17, 1787)

Description:

The commerce clause was written during the time period of the constitutional convention. This clause shifts again, more power in the direction of the federal gov't by giving it the power to regulate trade with foreign nations. Also, rather than have the states regulate interstate trade, this clause gives the national government to power to regulate such trade. This shift of power helps to keep the states in check and give the federal government more authority over the states.
