Jean Baptiste Lamarck (jan 1, 1744 – jan 1, 1829)
Description:
Jean Baptiste Lamarck(1744-1829): Lamarck had a discredited view of evolution in which organisms altered their behavior in response to environmental change. The result of the behavioral change triggered modification of their organs, and their offspring inherited those "improved" structures. This concept, that you pass on the features that developed during your lifetime, not just your genes is known as the inheritance of acquired characteristics. He also believed that living things evolved in a continuously upward direction toward human "perfection." He claimed that species didn't die out in extinctions. Instead, they changed into other species.
