Aztec Empire (jan 1, 1345 – aug 13, 1521)

Description:

Aztec Empire flourishes in the Mesoamerican region. This empire's rule is strong and practiced a religion with over 100 gods and goddesses, each depicting elements of daily life and of nature. This rule continued until well into the 16th century but is often remarked as falling into decline by the fall of Tenochtitlan in 1521 by Hernan Cortez. The religion of the Aztec people had several different religious practices such as human sacrifice that happened in mass quantities during what was known as fire ceremonies. Practices such as this were described as barbaric and heresy by the Spanish upon arrival in Central America.
