The Innwa Dynasty (aug 25, 1364 – aug 25, 1555)
Description:
The Innwa, also known as Ava, was the powerful kingdom that ruled Upper Myanmar from the 12th century to the mid-16th century. It became the successor kingdom after the nearby Myinsaing Kingdom declined. Ava's monarchs claimed that they were the rightful heirs of the Bagan dynasty, but they were actually Bamarised Shan kings.
Thadominbya, 21, founded the kingdom of Ava, which would succeed in reuniting most of Myanmar after the fall of Bagan. He also founded the city of Ava, which would continue to be the capital of the kingdom for almost 5 centuries.
In early 1555, King Byinnaung of Taungnoo captured Ava, and took away its role as the capital for another 2 centuries.
