Missouri Compromise (1820) (jan 1, 1820 – jan 1, 1820)
Description:
In 1820, congress decided that Missouri is a slave state and Maine is a free one. However, there was a law that prohibited slavery in any state in the Louisiana Territory. In 1857, it was declared unconstitutional because congress did not have the authority to prohibit slavery in the territories.
