Constitutional Convention (may 25, 1787 – sep 17, 1787)

Description:

The Constitutional Convention was originally not meant for the creation of the new and current US Constitution. Delegates from all the states came to this convention in Philadelphia under the impression that they would simply being making modifications to improve the Articles of Confederation. However, as the convention progressed, the majority (but not all) of the delegates came to an agreement that it would be more efficient to just draft another constitution to solve the preexisting problems that could not be solved by the Articles. There were many debates, disagreements, and compromises over topics such as slavery, voting, and the components of Congress. Eventually, the convention passed the draft and released it for ratification by the states on September 17, 1787.
