House of Wisdom in Baghdad (jan 1, 800 – feb 13, 1258)
Description:
The Islamic leader Al-Mamun established this library in Baghdad, which contained some of the records not destroyed in the Library of Alexandria. Many nations contributed to the knowledge gained in this library. This knowledge was then carried into Europe when the Turks took over Constantinople in 1453.Added to timeline:
