Aroostook War (jan 1, 1838 – jan 1, 1839)

Description:

The Aroostook War was a dispute over the boundary between Maine and New Brunswick (British Canadian province). The Peace Treaty of 1783 had left the location of a supposed "highlands," or watershed unclear. The U.S. and Britain failed to come to an agreement. Then the king of the Netherlands rendered a decision which cause the citizens of Maine to object it which led to the U.S. Senate to reject it as well.
