Description:
In 168 BCE, a group of rebels known as the Maccabees began a revolt to combat the dissatisfaction with Greek rule.
By 164 BCE, the Maccabees had gained control of Jerusalem and the temple which was converted for the worship of Zeus had been rededicated to God.
