Freedom Rides (may 4, 1961 – dec 10, 1961)
Description:
The Supreme Court racially integrated interstate travel, but many of the states did not follow this ruling. The Freedom Rides was a protest against the Southern states that refused to comply with this ruling. The protesters would test the transportation laws by having blacks use the transportation, and many of them would be arrested.Added to timeline:
