Great Plague (dec 21, 1665 – oct 9, 1666)

Description:

The great plague was the return of the Yersinia Pestis bacteria which caused the black death.

England coped better this time. Though they still didn't know what caused the disease, they moved to more natural ideas of what did cause it (overcrowding, dirt, miasmas as well as god)
Straw signs and white sticks were used to show infected houses and their occupants and people burned clothes and possessions and banned animals to try and stop the plague.
King Charles II organised mass prayer and a dried toad on the chest was said to be a god cure.
25% populations of London died and after the great fire of London the streets were rebuilt wider so that there would be less overcrowding.
Plague Doctors wore head to to covering clothes and had special incenses in the beak.
