Mexican-American War (apr 26, 1846 – feb 2, 1848)
Description:
Prior to the War, Texas had fought and achieved independence from Mexico and was in the process of applying for statehood. President Polk moved the annex anyway, and long story short, Mexico ceded the entirety of the Southwest to America. This war gave the United States a lot of territory to manifest, and created multiple new states, whose induction was the result of multiple sectional compromises, such as the Compromise of 1850
