Description:

The Triumph of the Immaculate by Paolo de Matteis is the best representation of the baroque art movement because it best represent the dramatized, ornate complexity which encompassed all art forms during this period. During the Baroque art movement focused on creating exaggerated and dramatic contrasts and movement using the chiaroscuro technique of sharp contrasts between light and dark. The art of this time period was most closely associated with the ornate, intricate detailing and dramatic sensuality. The Baroque style evolved out the the Catholic Counter Reformation. The Catholic Church aimed to use art to revamp the popularity of the Church; the need for powerful, invigorating art for this purpose began the Baroque art movement.
