Nixon Resigns Office (aug 9, 1974 – aug 9, 1974)
Description:
On August 9th, 1974, President Nixon resigns from the presidential office due to almost being impeached and kicked out of office. Nixon had committed many crimes mostly relating to the Watergate Scandal. Nixon was accused of obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress. Vice President Gerald R. Ford was sworn into office that same day to take over the rest of Nixon’s presidency. We all see this on the television in the gym where Forrest Gump was practicing his ping pong against a wall. An officer discharges Forrest from the army a few minutes later, and couldn’t play ping pong for the army anymore.
