US Troops in Vietnam (mar 8, 1965 – mar 8, 1965)
Description:
The US entered the war after the North Vietnamese gained independence from the French colonizers. They put on a communist government and invaded South Vietnam because it lacked a Communist government. This news was alarming because the US wanted to follow the Truman Doctrine in containing Communism. They backed up the South Vietnamese government/army. This was important because it introduced the Cold War.
