Description:

The U.S. was involved in the war on both fronts—in Europe against the Axis Powers and in the Pacific against Japan. Citizens at home mobilized to support the war effort. However, the U.S. was reluctant to accept Jewish refugees into the country. Nevertheless, the U.S. was a major force in the war and was instrumental in securing the Allied victory. Its dropping of atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were unprecedented and would change the nature of foreign relations permanently.
