Description:

When gold was discovered in Sacramento Valley word traveled fast. Word that you could get rich quick off of gold. Thousands of miners flocked to mine gold in hope of getting rich. So many immigrants came that by 1849 the population grew to 100,000 people. By the end of the Gold Rush $2 billion was mined in California alone. (Gold Discovered at Sutter's Mill would cause the start of the Gold Rush, but also led to the founding of great cities today like Sacremento and San Francisco became important cites in the West due to the Gold Rush.)
