Korean War (jun 25, 1950 – jul 29, 1953)

Description:

The Korean War sparked when 75,000 troops from a Communist North Korea invaded a western supported South Korea. North Korea took most of the peninsula within a few months, but when South Korea recieved support from the U.N., they were able to push the boundary back. China didn't want to see a unified North and South Korea, and sent troops to assist in restoring original boundaries. The war came to a stalemate, where it stayed until an armistice was signed in July of 1953. There were a total of about 5 million casualties in the Korean War.
