British Ideals and Class system (jan 1, 1901 – dec 31, 1945)
Description:
Throughout the modern period is the overall change in literature, from the Victorian era to what was going into the 20th century. This time in literature was a way to break traditional values and ideas. Literature, before, had a set focus on the common wealthy, white male and put aside the thoughts of a lower class or even females. Through this change, literature adapted to diversity amongst the class system. You can see this in Orlando when he/she is battling with the want of being both average and rich. Woolf writes about different classes and overall is apart of the change throughout literature.
